چکیده
This study aimed to determine endocrine disruptors in urbanized rivers Maracanã and Mangue Channel Rio de Janeiro the second most populated city Brazil. Bisphenol A, 17β-estradiol, estriol, 17α-ethinylestradiol were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography with a diode array detector fluorescence In addition, evaluation of estrogenic activity was performed YES bioassay (Yeast estrogen screen) Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast, acute toxicity assays using Daphnia similis Vibrio fischeri. Estrogenic water samples ranged from below limit detection (<LD) 1.6 ng L-1, while bisphenol A 22.3 1325.2 L-1 estrogens 17β-estradiol <LD 55.2 estriol 313.7 17α-ethinylestradiol, 409.4 L-1. The not detected both analyzed organisms. present indicates serious level pollution compounds evaluated significant risks aquatic ecosystem, mainly for Guanabara Bay which receives river discharge. Therefore, recommending need systematic monitoring mitigating actions these bodies.

Endocrine disruptors (e.g., polychlorinated biphenyls [PCBs], dichlorodiphenyl-trichloroethane [DDT], dioxin, and some pesticides) are estrogen-like and anti-androgenic chemicals in the environment. They mimic natural hormones, inhibit the action of hormones, or alter the normal regulatory function of the endocrine system and have potential hazardous effects on male reproductive axis causing in...

Human exposure to endocrine disruptors is well documented by biomonitoring data. However, this information is limited to few chemicals like bisphenol A or phthalate plasticizers. To account for so-far unidentified endocrine disruptors and potential mixture effects we employ bioassays to detect endocrine activity in foodstuff and consequently characterize the integrated exposure to endocrine act...
متن کاملBiomarker Genes for Detecting Estrogenic Activity of Endocrine Disruptors via Estrogen Receptors
Endocrine disruptors (EDs) are compounds used in various industrial products, drugs, and cosmetics. They can be found in the environment and disturb the endocrine and reproductive systems, resulting in adverse effects to humans and wildlife such as birth defects and developmental disorders. Since several EDs have a structure similar to that of endogenous steroid hormones such as estrogens, they...
متن کاملBioremediation of Waters Polluted by Endocrine Disruptors by Means of the Process of Thermodialysis
The advantages in using catalytic hydrophobic membranes in bioreactors operating under non-isothermal conditions, process of thermodialysis, for remediation of aqueous systems polluted by Endocrine Disruptors are discussed and illustrated. In presence of a transmembrane temperature gradient the enzyme activity increases along the yield of the bioremediation process. The theoretical bases accoun...
